The question is,.. Lautrec or not?

This is the real question.

Is this eBay seller in London, with a 100% good F/B rating, who happens to say that they are selling off all their late mums things,... really on the up & up?  I would like to think that this eBay seller is,... as they themselves say they are not all that knowledgeable and a little ignorant to the fact of what they are selling, while not having much knowledge of the world of fine art. Fortunately or unfortunately, which ever the case,... this world of ours is filled with skeptics,.... and with good reasons.  some would have the tendencies to believe that they were just trying to pull the wool over their buyers eyes and scam them out of their hard earn cash. It is a little amazing how their mother had all these fine works of art in her possession,... and without her children's knowledge.

Let us just surmise that these in fact were a few pieces of original works of art, supposedly collected up by their mother,.... probably over her life time, while having no idea who the artist's really were, not really caring or knowing their actual value or worth.  What the MFA art experts fail to realize, most these famous artist of long past times, had one hell of a time trying to sell their works of art, when they were living, and if they had to depend on selling their works of art through these MFA people, they would have died a faster starving ass death.

"Madame Guilbert" - painting in watercolor and pastels, bearing signature H. Latrec, offered no reserve. Old label on reverse stating, "Madame Guilbert, Paris, 1899. Bought by me, Henry J. Adelphe from the Villeneuve Collection 1975, Gironde, France."

This is a very good quality painting from my late mother's house. She was an absolute Francophile - and organised numerous trips to France for the people who went to her French evening class which was run at St. Alban's College. This was in the loft - and was a VERY great surprise to me and my brother!! I suspect it may have been a gift from one of the trips which she thought was awful - hence parked quietly out of sight. My mum was more of a fan of landscapes by Constable and at a push Monet - and I don't think this kind of very sketchy work would have been her cup of tea at all and let's be honest - she's a pretty miserable-looking old boot!! I don't know anything about the artist - the closest I can get to Latrec is Toulouse-Lautrec - close but no cigar! Who Henry Adelphe is I've no idea. We've got to clear out the rest of the house before the builders come in and make it suitable for renting - so I've bunged it on ebay. Someone should like it. I have looked at it under magnification and it is DEFINITELY a painting not a print. Offered without reserve.
